OS+H Asia 2022: Safety and health at work as important as ever amidst changing work spaces
December 9, 2022

9 December 2022 – The 13th Occupational Safety+Health Exhibition for Asia closed on a high note and with positive sentiments last September, underpinning the increased relevance of safety and health in the workplace in a post pandemic environment. Over three days, from 14-16 September at Suntec Singapore – 100 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions engaged with some 2,500 visitors from 35 countries. The in-person exhibition was complemented by a digital preview which began a week earlier, and ran from 7 to 16 September 2022.

Featuring a broad showcase of safety, security and health equipment, products and applications, the show floor saw a strong line-up of work at height solutions – from harnesses to lifeline systems, fire protection equipment and detection systems to cooling technology, as well as personal protective solutions across a range of application sectors.

Coming on the back of the pandemic and the easing of international travel borders earlier in the year, the general feeling from both exhibitors and visitors was one of optimism and positivity, particularly since the last in-person edition of OS+H Asia was in 2018. In 2021, OS+H Asia featured a hybrid edition. After OS+H Asia’s four year hiatus, Lee Ai Ling, Senior Project Manager, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, said: “It was encouraging to see such response from the industry, including international participation and attendance from over 20 countries. More importantly, the buzz on the show floor was testament to the relevance of workplace safety and health especially now as companies prioritise getting back to business and accelerate economic activity.”

Echoing this sentiment was first time exhibitor UDYOGI International Pvt Ltd from India, who said the exhibition had been a very good platform and introduction to Singapore and the region. Having previously participated at A+A in Düsseldorf, Germany, Pritam Deb, Business Head – Fall Protection & Lifeline Systems, said: “This was our first time at OS+H Asia. We are well known in India, but we wanted to break into Southeast Asian markets, and this is the show for that. Similarly, Iker Yeregui, Sales Manager at IRUDEK from Spain observed, “This was our first time at OS+H Asia. Although it is understandably smaller than A+A in Düsseldorf, but it is the right place to find distributors for Asian markets.” A+A is the world’s leading trade fair on workplace safety, health, and hygiene, organised by the Messe Düsseldorf group in Germany.

OS+H Asia 2022 proved to be the ideal platform for several longstanding exhibitors who were keen to share their new technologies and solutions developed over the last few years, as well as forge new business partnerships. Anthony Seah, Partner, ALLSPORTS EQUIPMENT, said, “We have been exhibiting at OS+H Asia for many years so we could not miss the first in-person 1 edition back after the pandemic. We have had quality visitors and we are glad we came. We will see you again in 2024 at MBS.” Mr Christopher Mok, Principal Storage Consultant, Rack Safety (SEA) Pte Ltd had this to add, “We have not missed an OS+H Asia exhibition for years and we are happy to be back for the first “live” show after the pandemic. It was good to talk to people and shake hands again. People like to look you in the eye to do business; it’s important. It has been a good show for us, and we look forward to an even bigger show in 2024.”

The sentiment on the show floor remained positive over the three days among visitors and attendees, with over 95 percent visitor satisfaction and 98 percent indicating they would return for the next edition in 2024. In particular, many visitors found the Digital Preview a useful tool that added to the overall productivity of their visit. Willard Chong, Senior Manager Sales & Marketing, QSS Safety Products, commented: “The virtual platform really helped us. We could see who had visited and what they were interested in. People checked us out online and then visited our booth for specific things.”

Since its inception in 1998, OS+H Asia continues to provide workplace safety and health solutions across the industries, from building & construction and marine & offshore, to hospitality, food & beverage and medical & healthcare. The exhibition has also established itself as the regional go-to for the exchange of expertise and industry best practices, and this year saw some 400 attendees at the Forum on Workplace Safety+Health, IES Seminar and Asia Pacific OHS Training Convention. In addition, OS+H Asia 2022 served as a Partner Event to the much-anticipated 7th edition of the Singapore WSH Conference.

Keeping up with an ever-evolving landscape where innovation serves to build a safe, secure and healthy workplace, the Tech Innovation Stage (TIS) – a relatively new component of the exhibition that was first introduced in the 2021 edition, made a dynamic comeback this year as a space for exhibitors to introduce new-to-market products and solutions to a targeted audience of regional buyers. TIS was well-received by both visitors and exhibitors and Feon Liew, Senior Marketing Executive at LSH Industrial Solutions Pte Ltd commented that, “the Tech Innovation Stage is a good platform for presenters to present their products on stage.”

The next edition of OS+H Asia will return to its biennial cycle and take place from 11 to 13 September 2024 at Marina Bay Sands, where it will be synergistically co-located with MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, benefitting all involved in safety and security, medical and healthcare.
